Social Media Everywhere

In case there was any doubt that social media is seeping into every aspect of our daily lives, let me assure you it has.  This morning I was sitting in the doctor's office as my wife was undergoing a medical procedure. I brought along my iPad and Clear Spot to do some research for a grad paper and honestly to catch up on some reading on my FlipBoard app.

While was I was flipping through blog posts, I overheard an eighty-something woman talking to her younger friend (in her seventies) about reading something or another on Facebook.  I was so shocked by the conversation, I accidentally hit a play button on a YouTube video embedded in one of the posts I had been reading.  I scrambled to find the mute button, apologized and everyone just kinda went about their business, like it was no big deal that the iPad had blared out.

Two other guys (presumably also waiting for their wives) had their laptops and iPods out, probably checking some account or another.  After waiting for an hour I was finally called back to the recovery room.  Soon the nurse came back with pictures of the procedure.  My wife looks up at me and says, "which of these should I post on Facebook?'
